A Grand View, Berkeley, California (Featured in 3 magazines)

The property is situated on a down slope lot and affords spectacular panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay. It is flanked by single family residences.

To take advantage of this special location, careful attention was given to realizing the full potential of the glorious views. At the same time, we wanted to create a spacious interior, filled with natural light and ventilation, and makes the outdoor terraces an extension of the interior, creating continuous, level indoor/outdoor living spaces.

The orientation of the terraces took into consideration the early morning sun, wonderful evening sunsets, and privacy from neighbors, as well as seamlessly connecting interior living areas - kitchen, family room, living room and dining room - to the outdoors.

The home was designed around a dramatic stair tower and a private elevator that unite the different levels, creating central circulation while giving privacy to the different elements of the house, including the office suite, living areas, media center, and outdoor and indoor play areas.

Two of the published articles about the Grand View house can be viewed at HousingZone and Options.
